Thanks to your generosity during our #GivingTuesday campaign on December 1st and your end-of-year gifts, we met our goal of raising the last $10,000 needed to complete RWI’s financial commitment to Chhairo. With the funds raised, the last of the work is underway.
Second Story of Visitor/Kitchen Block Begun
Now that the weather is getting warmer, work has recommenced at the visitor/kitchen block. The crew is plastering the rest of the first story that they started in the fall, and they have begun construction of the block’s second story.
Gyalpo Finished & Consecrated
This winter, Shashi Dhoj, the head lama of Chhairo gompa, his brother Chakra, and his assistants finished the gyalpo paintings and a consecration ceremony was held. Here are a couple photos of the gorgeous detailed wall paintings.
Shashi Dhoj Honored
In February, Shashi Dhoj received a recognition award from the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts. We at Restoration Works International congratulate this distinguished and accomplished artist. We are so proud that our volunteers have helped share in the creation of his great art works.
